PSI number (pounds per square inch). This number refers to the amount of pressure exerted by water against the masonry surface (also known as hydrostatic pressure). One waterproofer even bears a label stating it will withstand up to 20
PSI. Here’s the problem with that. According to an independent, highly reputable testing lab,
“Typical masonry units, obtained for this testing from commercial masonry supply companies, could crack if tested above 15
PSI.” To put it another way, if the cinder block itself is subject to failure at pressures above 15
PSI, what good is a 20
