It was 1953 when UGL held its first national sales meeting and introduced the DRYLOK® line, including nine separate products for waterproofing basements, stopping active masonry leaks, and protecting and beautifying interior or exterior masonry walls.
Since that time, a nationally recognized rating magazine has rated waterproofing paints on two separate occasions and both times, DRYLOK® Masonry Waterproofer has come out on top.
Always changing with the times and giving consumers what they want, DRYLOK® Masonry Waterproofer was first formulated as a powdered masonry coating. Next, UGL introduced a ready-mixed oil base formula and than a latex base formula. All formulas are equally good but suit different purposes for the consumer.
Recently, in response to government VOC regulations, UGL was able to formulate Latex Base DRYLOK® Masonry Waterproofer into a low VOC formula for the OTC States.
In the past couple of years, the mass media has created a buzz regarding coatings resistant to mold/mildew; this has created a consumer-driven need to offer a top-rated coating with a mildew-resistant additive.
The UGL laboratory technicians went to work to develop a masonry waterproofer coating that could stand up to the DRYLOK® reputation, holding back water equal to or greater than a basement height of water and have additional consumer-friendly properties.
The result was DRYLOK® Extreme Masonry Waterproofer. DRYLOK® Extreme has been tested by independent labs to hold back 12 psi of water pressure (a wall of water 26 ft high). It is a latex base, low odor, VOC-compliant formula. It has a smoother finish for consumers who want a house paint type look with the waterproofing capabilities of a waterproofing paint. It comes with a 15 year Fully Transferable Warranty.
While both of our traditional Oil Base and Latex Base DRYLOK® Masonry Waterproofers are inert coatings, which mean they will not promote the growth of mold/mildew, DRYLOK® Extreme has a mildewcide additive to further prevent the potential for mold/mildew growth on the dry paint film under extreme situations.
