United Gilsonite Laboratories (UGL), a Scranton, PA-based paint specialty manufacturer, announced the product approval for DRYLOK® EXTREME Masonry Waterproofer as part of a new exterior Sealed Cladding System. It was issued approval number FL30710 from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DPBR). This new exterior Sealed Cladding System provides a watertight and wind-resistant exterior finish for use on residential wood studs and OSB substrates. It utilizes an internal weather-resistant barrier (WRB), StructaLath metal lath, and a Portland Cement-based finish coated with DRYLOK® EXTREME Masonry Waterproofer. The system tested to resist transverse wind loads up to an allowable pressure of +75/-75 pounds per square foot (PSF) when constructed per the provisions of the approval. Architects, Code Officials and Builders have been searching for a tested and code approved exterior cladding system for use in the Southeast U.S. climate zone that offers peace of mind to homeowners and developers. This system achieves that goal, plus takes a further step by including the DRYLOK® EXTREME 15-year transferrable waterproof warranty. The Florida Product Approval documents are available at https://floridabuilding.org/pr/pr_app_srch.aspx. Information on DRYLOK® EXTREME and other DRYLOK® products is accessible at www.drylok.com.
