Falling in love with the 19th-century beauty
Jessica and Rob are like many young couples, met in college, dated, came home for holiday breaks, and on and on. When Jessica would bring Rob home for a visit, they would make their way to Jessica’s grandmother’s house. The home is a 19-century structure, built as a country getaway situated on acres of green grass and hidden gardens.
Rob would look around in delight at the home’s historic architecture. You can’t get those wraparound porches, exposed ceiling beams, and the exquisite built-ins any more. Just the sight of them gave him a vision of his dream home. A few renovations of this grand home, to modernize here and there, but keeping the historic charm is all it would need.

A few years later, Jessica and Rob would get engaged. This was about the same time grandma was feeling the house was just too much. The family was thrilled when the young couple decided they were up for the challenge to buy the old homestead and make it their own.
They started tackling the project of a lifetime, all while starting a family. Baby #1 arrived, and it was off to the races. The plaster was peeled away to add more insulation between the building joists. The walls were finished with drywall for a smooth canvas to finish the baby’s room.

Baby #2 now on his way; Rob starts the same process of pulling down the plaster, this time, he found a treasure. They knew there was a chimney behind the plaster when they saw it, it needed work.
